Claude practical introductory training
The Claude practical introductory training gives an overview of the six main ways people interact with AI and use it in their work: content creation, research, ideation and strategy, data analysis, coding and automation. We go through all six use cases and work on related tasks under the trainer’s guidance. The trainer adjusts how deeply the topics are covered to the group’s experience and needs. Explanations and examples alternate with guided exercises and discussions. Participants check the results and improve their prompts based on the feedback they receive. The six use cases are based on the core components of AI use described in OpenAI’s guide “Identifying and scaling AI use cases in organizations” (source).
In this 6-academic-hour training, you produce a project set up for your work, a revised work text or document summary, an analysis of a sample spreadsheet and a simple interactive dashboard. You use Claude to research a chosen topic in depth and check the key claims in what you find against the original sources. You draw up an action plan for solving one work problem. To automate a recurring activity, you write down the input information it needs, the desired result and the steps that require human review.

- We relate the six use cases to office work.
- We explain the risk of AI making mistakes and the limits on using data, and distinguish between work and personal accounts.
- Each participant chooses one task from their own work and assesses what information may be used to complete it.
- Participants create a project and add the task’s goal, background information, a sample file and the desired form of the answer.
- We practise prompting Claude to ask clarifying questions when necessary input information is missing.
- We test how the added background information changes the result, and distinguish between using a chat and Cowork.
- Participants write or revise a text suited to their work and compare the substantive differences between two versions of a document.
- We check that the result matches the source material and refine the prompt.
- The trainer also shows the options for creating a document (Docs), a presentation (Slides) and a design (Design).
- We distinguish between web search and Research.
- Participants formulate a research question, start the research and compare how up to date and reliable the sources are.
- While the longer research runs, we continue with other exercises and later check its key claims against the original sources.
- Participants have Claude suggest solutions to a work problem and point out their weak points.
- We compare the options against chosen criteria and draw up an action plan for a feasible solution.
- Participants analyse a sample spreadsheet with Claude for Excel, ask a question about the data and create or explain a formula.
- We check one calculation and assess whether the data supports the conclusion drawn from it.
- Participants build a simple interactive dashboard from sample data as an artifact, an output that opens next to the chat and can be edited.
- We add key figures, a chart and a filter, and change the dashboard in plain language.
- We check that the figures match the source data.
- No code is written by hand; the dashboard uses the data from a provided file.
- The trainer shows the role of Cowork, reusable work instructions, plugins and scheduled tasks.
- Participants save their best prompt and describe, for one recurring activity, when it should run, its input information, the result and the steps that require human review.
- The result is an automation brief; the technical setup of the workflow is left for further practice.
Personalised and immediately applicable
The greatest strength of the training was personalisation. Every lesson built on our company's real situations and processes, not textbook examples. The balance of theory and practice and the concrete tips helped us quickly adopt new working methods. The training gave us tools that can be applied immediately, not knowledge that ends up in a drawer.

What you'll be able to do:
use Claude to write a text suited to your work, give it the background information it needs and have it ask clarifying questions about missing information;
use Claude to research a chosen topic in depth and check the key claims in what you find against the original sources;
compare the solutions Claude suggests against chosen criteria and draw up an action plan;
use Claude to analyse a sample spreadsheet and check the calculation behind a conclusion;
build a simple interactive dashboard from sample data and change it in plain language;
describe how a recurring work task could be automated and identify the steps that require human review.

Encouraging and practical
We gained the courage to experiment and to see how to make our work easier. A start has been made and I am very grateful for it. I especially liked the practical examples. At the same time, I understand that consolidating skills and deepening knowledge requires a lot more practice.
Good to know
Before the training
Scope of the training
The training gives you the skills to start using AI in your everyday work. We practise coding with a simple interactive dashboard example; Claude Code is not taught separately. Building plugins, integrating company systems, developing production-ready applications and automating end-to-end processes require separate training or development work.
Duration and format
Six academic hours equal 270 minutes of instruction. Breaks are added on top of this time. The training can be held online or on site; on-site training lets the trainer guide participants’ practice more directly. The training is held in Estonian or English.
Prerequisites
Each participant needs a computer with an internet connection. The required applications and add-ins must be set up before the training. To take part hands-on, you need a Claude Team or Enterprise account approved by your organisation, with the features needed for the training enabled, including file creation, artifacts and Cowork. The main exercises take place in Claude. To practise data analysis, the Claude for Excel add-in must be installed and ready to use in Excel. We check the availability of plugins with the client before the training. For practice, we use sample data or materials agreed with the client.
